Amish men wear "plain" suit coats that do not have any collars, buttons or lapels. The Amish, being pacifists, will not wear anything that represents a military uniform. The coat and vest is closed with a hook and an eye. Their pants will close with either 12 or 14 buttons, unlike the military standard of 13.
